Īfter being delayed from an initial late 2020 release date due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and followed by subsequent further delays, Deathloop released on and Steam on September 14, 2021. It also features a multiplayer "invasion" mode, where a player-controlled enemy must hunt down the main protagonist.
The game serves as a slight departure from Arkane's previous releases, the Dishonored series and Prey, by featuring a time-loop mechanic, where players restart upon death, alongside a time-of-day that changes when moving between levels and forgoing any consequences for not playing stealthily. Deathloop is a first-person action, adventure and shooter game developed by Arkane Lyon and published by Bethesda Softworks.
